Grateful Monday: Today I’m grateful for all the beautiful little islands around Bali and my 2 day adventure to one this past week. In need of some solitude to do some creative business planning, I went to one of my favourite little remote pieces of paradise 30 mins away by boat. It was beautiful to get back to the basics, limited electricity, waves crashing below my hut as I slept and that smell and feel of salt air on your skin.
This little island lodge is a well kept secret by expats who live in Bali and is priceless worth so much more than the $40 per night price tag. The island is connected by draw bridge to a bigger island and they pick you up from the boat by motor bike – the ride back is up a huge hill looking out over the turquoise water below then around a stunning harbour and finally over a long draw bridge taking you to another paradise that has been forgotten (or not properly discovered!) – chickens roaming freely, kids playing on the streets, seaweed farmers tending to their crops (islands major export) and phenomenal coral and bright fish in the reefs surrounding the island. Love that these type of places are our weekend break destinations these days and within 30 mins you can be transported to a sleepy paradise where nature rules.
