Avoid anything with more than five ingredients.
Stay out of the middle of the supermarket –this is usually where the junk is. Shop around the edges where the fresh produce is displayed instead.
Drink water when you are thirsty or hungry. Often we think we are hungry but we are actually dehydrated.
Make your own sauces and salad dressings.Packaged ones are high in salt and sugar.
Avoid anything with numbers in the ingredients list. Numbers equal colourings and preservatives.
Steer clear of packaged foods. Most packaged foods contain sugar, salt and added preservatives.
Limit foods with extended use-by dates. Breadis a good example. Homemade bread only lasts a couple of days before going stale. Shop bought bread can last up to two weeks.
Eat more fresh fruit and vegetables.
Cook at home – this way you can control what goes into your food.
Shop at farmers markets or wholefood stores –they are fantastic places to buy homegrown or organic produce.
