In October 2021, Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport officially reopened to foreign tourists.
As of February 2022, direct international flights are now landing in Bali and Australia have just announced direct flights from Melbourne and Sydney via Jetstar from March 14th from only $230AUD.
Ever since Bali closed its borders in March 2020, many eager tourists, as well as Balinese locals and businesses, have been waiting to reopen to international travellers.

Is Bali open to tourists?
Yes, you can enter Bali direct now from international flights. If your home country is not yet flying direct to Bali, you can enter via Jakarta, Singapore, KL and Japan.
When will flights to Bali resume?
Flights via Singapore Airlines and Garuda Airlines are currently flying direct to Bali.
Jetstar have just released direct flights from Melbourne and Sydney to Denpasar from March 14th (starting from only $230AUD) and Qantas expects to recommence its Bali route on March 28 with Sydney to Denpasar too.
There are also international flights departing to Denpasar from countries including the UAE, Turkey, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines. Check your local airlines and country regulations for the most up to date information on flying into Bali.
Among the more notable airlines are Qatar Airways, Emirates Airlines, Korean Air, Turkish Airlines, and Singapore Airlines.
There are several domestic flight schedules operated by local airlines. The country’s national carrier, Garuda Indonesia, is the main airline resuming domestic operations. Other airlines such as AirAsia, Batik Air, Lion Air, Sriwijaya Air, and Citilink are operating multiple daily flights from cities across Indonesia.
More flights are planned to be scheduled throughout March and April 2022.
Do I need to be vaccinated to enter Bali?
You don’t need to be vaccinated to enter Bali (you will need an exemption to enter without a vaccination), however your vaccination status determines your quarantine duration. You must also have a legitimate exemption letter. See below for details.
Do I need to take a covid test to enter Bali?
Yes, you will be required to show a negative Covid PCR test result taken maximum 48 hours before departure at your original country. For those fully vaccinated (with booster) who do not require quarantine, you will also need to show a negative test upon arrival in Bali.
Do I need to quarantine to enter Bali?
As of March 7th you can enter Bali without needing to quarantine if you are fully vaccinated and have had the booster shot.
For those with double vaccination, quarantine is 4 nights, and for those who are unvaccinated, quarantine is 6 nights.
Currently, the Government has approved 27 hotels as part of the bubble hotel quarantine program’s first stage of Bali’s resumption of opening to all international arrivals. There are also an additional 54 hotels that are in-room only quarantine hotels and resorts.
Both the bubble and in-room only hotels and resorts will be available for travellers to book when entering Bali on international flights and that meet the entry requirements.
About Quarantine Bubble Hotels
These resorts are ‘quarantine bubbles’ – meaning you won’t be confined in your room for five days and will be allowed access to certain facilities within the bubble area of the resorts.
About In-Room Quarantine Hotels
In-room quarantine hotels in Bali is where guests can commence their vacation but must remain in their rooms during the quarantine period.
Implementation of the quarantine protocol and RT-PCR Test is carried out at designated quarantine facilities and supervised by the handling officers from the Ministry of Health and Covid-19 Handling Acceleration Force teams.
Travellers arriving on international flights in Bali MUST have a quarantine hotel package booked and paid.

Where do I quarantine in Bali?
Remember, fully vaccinated tourists no longer need to quarantine! If you do need to quarantine, this is the current list below of all quarantine hotels in Bali that are approved to accept travellers when they arrive in Bali that meet the necessary rules and regulations for International arrival entry into Bali. What is the quarantine process in Bali?
Upon arrival you will be guided through the airport and need to stop at different checkpoint counters, where you will have to show your travel documents which includes:
- valid negative PCR test, not taken earlier than 48 hours before your departure from your country of origin.
- proof of your vaccination status in English, this will include your booster dose also if available.
- your medical insurance covering USD25,000 for covid related expenses,
- the booking confirmation for the quarantine hotel which will be provided by the hotel (email with QR code)
- You will be checked to see you have downloaded PeduliLindungi App that you filled in the e-Hac international form in that app, asking for your flight data and some more information about where you are staying.

During your quarantine, some hotels may differ slightly from others, but these are the protocols:
- You must stay in your room for the entire quarantine period, in a bubble hotel quarantine, you have access to designated areas where you can complete your stay which will often also include pool and outdoor facilities to enjoy.
- Your second PCR test is the day before the check-out. The reception will print out the result for you the following morning together with a clearance document. If all goes well and tests are negative, you are free to leave
- You are not allowed to receive any guests or visitors or have other people entering your room.
- You are able to either consume food from the hotel or get food delivered to you.
- The quarantine packages have different inclusions but will often include three meals a day which commonly comes with a selection of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free diets.
How much does quarantine cost in Bali?
Governmental quarantine in Bali will cost between US$300 – $900, depending on the hotel you choose and your duration of stay.
Do I need a visa to enter Bali?
Indonesia has now reinstated the Visa on Arrival (VOA) which means you do not have to apply for a visa before travel, you can get a visa on arrival at the airport.This is only valid for those landing in Bali, not elsewhere in Indonesia.

If you are not from one of these countries listed, you need to apply for a B211B visa before you travel to Bali.
This visa allows you to spend up to six months in Bali.
The B211 Visa:
The Single Entry e-Visa is valid for 60 days and allows for four 30-day extensions, totalling a six month stay period. The visa is called a B211 Visit Visa, also referred to as the “Business Visa”. Until recently, this visa was for buiness reasons only, however, the government has now added “tourism” under the list of accepted activities.
Please note that one of the requirements of obtaining this visa is a presence of a company willing to sponsor said foreign national. However, visa agents in Bali can easily arrange for this requirement to be fulfilled for you and we can organize this on your behalf.
Single Entry B211 e-Visa applications can be submitted online by your agent, which means you do not have to visit the Indonesian embassy in your home country, nor when you arrive in Indonesia. There are, however, some required documents in order to apply:
- You’ll need to supply a scanned copy of your passport.
- You’ll need proof of full vaccination, and a negative PCR test result.
- You may be asked to show your bank statement in English with a minimum amount of 10,000 USD (or, ask your agent to help you).
- You may also need a booked return ticket to and from Indonesia within 60 days (it’s best to book a flight that can be rescheduled without fees, if you decide to extend your visa and stay for more than 60 days.)
- And finally, you’ll need to show proof of the e-Visa payment to start the application process.
How much does the B211 Visa cost?
Depending on which visa agent you use, the price of the B211 Visit e-Visa is approximately US$250. This includes the agent fee, the visa fee, and other documentation that’s required, including sponsorship, guarantee letter, and sometimes, the promise of an approved visa application within five working days. Extensions of the visa are around US$50, again, depending on the agent that you use. Each extension application must be made two-weeks before the date of visa expiry. You should also use the same agent for your extensions that you used for the initial application, since they will remain on your visa as your sponsor.
Should I book my flight to Bali before applying for the visa?
Yes, you’ll want to book your return flight before you apply for the visa, since this is one of the requirements when applying. Once your visa is approved, you have 90 days to enter the country, leaving you plenty of time to print your e-visa, arrange your health insurance and also get your PCR swab test results. Then all you need to do is pack your bags, dust off your passport and look forward to a blissful escape in Bali.
Can anyone apply for this visa?
Anyone can apply for this visa currently, except citizens from Afghanistan, Guinea, Israel, North Korea, Kamerun, Liberia, Nigeria and Somalia.

What do I need to show to fly into Bali?
1. Return or onwards ticket
2. Valid stay permit/visa (*ONLY if not from one of the countries listed for Visa On Arrival- most countries now enter with a visa on arrival)
3. Proof of vaccination status at least 14 days prior to departure
4. Negative PCR test result in 48 hours from departure
5. Confirmed hotel quarantine booking (if needing quarantining, if fully vaccinated you still need proof of accommodation in Bali for up to at least 4 nights)
6. PeduliLindungi application installed on your mobile
7. eHAC completed ( available within the Peduli Lindungi APP )
8. Proof of ownership of health insurance USD25,000 for foreign travellers that covers Covid regulations
9. Proof of confirmation of accommodation
Have Balinese locals been vaccinated?
Yes, vaccination is mandatory here. At present, the number of Bali residents who have been partially vaccinated against Covid-19 stands at over 90 percent while more than 80 percent have been fully vaccinated.
Is it safe to travel to Bali?
The situation is overall well under control in Bali. The government still applies a cautious approach and keeps Micro-Scale Social Restrictions (PPKM Regulations) in place, to mitigate the spread of Covid-19. Everything is open and available to visit and travel freely around Bali.
You will also need the PeduliLindungi App when visiting venues and stores.
Just like any other country, Indonesia (and Bali) does still have active cases of Coronavirus (you can track the daily cases and updates here ), so it’s always best to take all the necessary precautions that you would in any other country such as following correct hygiene and social distancing procedures. Saying that, Bali is blessed with lots of blissful outdoor spaces, open-air cafes and villas and wide open secluded beaches, so social distancing is easier here than elsewhere!
