Burnout is something many of us can relate to — that overwhelming feeling of being mentally, physically, and emotionally drained. It sneaks up on you, often after months or even years of pushing yourself too hard without enough time to rest and recharge.
Janine, our founder, knew this feeling all too well. After experiencing burnout firsthand during her corporate years, she realised that her pursuit of success had cost her more than just time – it had taken her happiness and well-being too! She no longer felt that
Determined to break free from this cycle, Janine knew she needed a change — a space to heal, reset, and reconnect with herself. That’s how Escape Haven was born: a place for women like her to step away from the pressure, heal from burnout, and rediscover their inner peace and reclaim their joy for life.
The Silent Crisis: What Is Burnout?
Burnout is a real, growing crisis today. But, despite this, we’re expected to push on — to keep working harder, achieving more, and meeting ever-growing demands. And, as women we are expected to meet so many – have successful careers, run and manage a household, maintain friendships and relationships, do this, get that done and so much more.
Our brains and bodies can only handle so much before they start to shut down.
When we feel like we’re never doing enough or constantly falling short and trying to compensate for that, burnout becomes inevitable. We then feel completely drained, emotionally and physically, everything begins to feel pointless and even the simplest tasks start to feel overwhelming.
Why Burnout is More Than “Just Being Tired”
When we’re constantly busy it’s easy to brush off feelings of exhaustion as “just being tired” but burnout goes far beyond the general fatigue of a long day. While stress and tiredness are common parts of life, burnout is prolonged – meaning you always feel tired, stressed, anxious, no matter what you do.
Left unchecked it is immensely damaging to both your physical and mental health. Emotionally you are uninterested, overly anxious and less willing to work on your work and relationships. It becomes harder to find joy in things that once made you happy, and motivation starts to slip away.
Physically, burnout can manifest as chronic fatigue, headaches, insomnia. Your body may start showing signs of stress through illness, digestive problems, and a weakened immune system. Over time, burnout can lead to more severe health complications, as your body struggles to keep up with the strain.
Burnout is a warning sign that your body and mind are asking for help.

The Why Behind Escape Haven: A Holistic Approach to Healing
Janine has always found herself in the corporate world, trading time, happiness, and health for the promise of success. For a time, it worked – she was, what society considered, successful. She reached many milestones, promotions and achievements. Yet, despite the outward signs of success, she felt empty and left wondering if this was all she was really supposed to be doing.
After a lot of reflection and thinking, Janine realised she was burnt out. She was tired of working toward a “success” that no longer felt fulfilling. The pressure to keep climbing the ladder had drained her, and she knew something had to change.
So, she took a step back and gave herself the space to pause, breathe, and reflect.
During a holiday in Ubud, Janine discovered yoga and Ayurveda — practices that inspired and grounded her. She saw how these ancient traditions helped her reconnect with herself, reduce stress, and regain her inner peace. It was in that moment that she wanted to help others experience the same sense of healing and balance.
And so, Escape Haven was born out of Janine’s own journey of burnout recovery. She didn’t want other women to feel the same way she did. She wanted to create a space where women could find solace, learn practical wellness rituals, and integrate them into their daily lives to fight burnout and find balance. Yes, its okay to work and be successful, but its just as important to take care of yourself.
After all, you can’t pour from an empty cup.

The Need For Burnout Recovery
When it comes to burnout, many of us opt for short-term fixes so that we don’t get too behind on the many tasks on our to-do list. And while a morning or day off might give some temporary relief, it doesn’t address the root cause of your burnout.
To truly recover you need time, intentional practices and commitment. Yes! It takes commitment because you have to train your mind to want to actually rest, adopt new habits and set healthy boundaries. These are not skills you can learn in a morning.
That’s why at Escape Haven we want to empower women to rediscover their inner strength to truly make changes in their life. We take pride in having assisted thousands of women on their journey to self-care, rejuvenation, and lasting recovery. Through our tailored wellness programs and retreat packages, we guide women through the process of healing burnout, helping them reconnect with themselves and build a foundation of balance.
Key Activities for Burnout Recovery at Escape Haven
At Escape Haven, we believe in empowering women to heal from burnout through restorative practices that not only provide relief in the moment but also teach skills to prevent future burnout. Our core packages are carefully designed to promote deep relaxation, mental clarity, and emotional resilience — helping you regain balance and cultivate a sense of peace.
Yin Yoga & Meditation
Two of the most powerful tools in our retreat experiences are Yin Yoga and Meditation. Both have been proven to be incredibly effective in helping women heal from the overwhelming stress and exhaustion that often accompany burnout.
Unlike some other forms of yoga, Yin Yoga focuses on holding poses for longer periods, allowing the body to open and stretch gradually. This practice encourages the release of deep-seated stress in the muscles and connective tissue, which helps the body recover from the physical effects of burnout.
Yin Yoga offer a much needed change for the go-go-go of everyday life, encouraging participants to slow down and reconnect with the body, actually giving it the attention it needs. By activating the parasympathetic nervous system, the “rest and digest” system, Yin Yoga balances the fight-or-flight responses often triggered by work-related stress and high-pressure environments.
Through mindful breathing and focused awareness, our meditation sessions also helps quiet the mind, reduce stress, and promote self-reflection. It teaches you how to anchor yourself in the present moment, cutting through the noise of overthinking past events or worrying about the future — both of which can amplify your burnout.
Unlimited Spa Treatments
No retreat is truly complete without a spa treatment — and at Escape Haven, we take it one step further by offering unlimited spa treatments as part of your recovery experience. While a spa day can seem like a luxury for many, it can be a vital tool in healing from burnout and stress.
