The Best Time of Year to Visit Bali for a Wellness Retreat
The time of year you choose to book a trip to Bali can shape the entire experience. While we’re blessed with warm weather – choosing between the wet and dry season can shape how you spend your time, whether on an adventure or within one of our wellness retreats.
As a tropical island, Bali has two distinct seasons: the dry season brings clear skies, warm days, and the perfect setting for exploring, surfing, and outdoor yoga or PT sessions. The wet season, with our lush landscapes and quieter pace, invites stillness and reflection – perfect for meditation and healing.

The Best Time of Year to Visit Bali
The best (and most popular) time of year to visit Bali is from May to October, which is the dry season. May to October is a vast amount of time, so to be more specific, the shoulder seasons – May to June and September to October – are the most ideal time of year to visit Bali. Visiting Bali during the shoulder seasons will provide the perfect combination of lovely weather and fewer crowds.
With that said, Bali is a holiday-destination all year round, depending on what you want to get out of your trip. The wet and dry seasons each offer something for everyone, with activities being more suited to different times of the year.

Bali’s Dry Season
If you’re after the classic Bali beach vacation, the dry season is ideal. The weather during Bali’s dry season is mostly clear and sunny, with temperatures ranging between 21 °C and 32 °C. From May to October, the humidity in Bali is lower, and there is significantly less rain compared to the wet season. However (particularly during July and August) tourists do flock to Bali and prices increase.
While the dry season is Bali’s busiest time of the year, the advantages of travelling to Bali at this time outweigh the potential drawbacks. With the weather at its best, Bali becomes the perfect vacation spot for outdoor adventures and activities like hiking, scuba diving, snorkelling, and swimming in the warm tropical waters.
The dry season is also the best time of year for Bali’s surf. If you plan on surfing before or after your wellness retreat within our women’s surf retreat, booking between April and October will ensure ideal conditions. For beginners and intermediate surfers, April, May, September, and October have consistent swells that are ideal for all skill levels. The swell becomes more powerful from June to August and is suited to more experienced surfers.
Bali’s Wet Season
Bali’s wet season is from November to April, when the climate is more humid, prone to rain, and temperatures range between 22 °C and 33 °C. December and January typically have a higher chance of rain; however, showers typically come through quickly and pass just as fast.
Bali during the wet season is just as, if not more, beautiful than the dry season. The increased rainfall means the island is greener and more lush than at any other time of the year. Tourism also significantly slows down in Bali’s wet season.
The wet season, from November to April, offers a slower, more peaceful side of Bali – making it an ideal time for a wellness retreat. The rainfall brings cooler temperatures, vibrant green landscapes, and a calm atmosphere that naturally encourages rest and reflection.
With fewer tourists, retreats during these months feel more private and immersive. It’s also the perfect time to explore Bali’s rich culture through indoor experiences like Balinese cooking classes, temple visits, traditional dance performances, and local art galleries.
