There’s a quiet craving raising in many of us. A desire for something slower, softer, more human. We’re beginning to realise that true wellness isn’t necessarily found in productivity hacks or morning routines. It’s found in presence. In mindfulness. In spaces that help us feel again and reconnect with what truly matters.

We’re seeing a powerful movement in the wellness world – a move toward what many are calling “analogue wellness”. It’s a conscious return to slower, sensory-rich experiences: think hands-on rituals, screen-free moments, and soulful, real-life connection. From breathwork to journaling, meditation to sound baths, these practices invite us to unplug and replug — not into tech, but into ourselves.
At the heart of this movement is a concept called the “Fourth Space.”

Sociology talks about three traditional “spaces” we occupy in life: home, work and third being a public location you visit regularly (like your favorite coffee shop or pilates studio). Third spaces tend to be solo or casual, fourth spaces are rooted in intentional community – places where people come together to share presence, passions, and purpose. Prioritising why you’re gathering rather than where.
Fourth space is fully offline, analogue and rooted in real-life shared experiences, where people connect through shared interests and passions. They are intentional gatherings that typically bring people’s digital interests to life. Fourth space brings online communities into real life, so people can connect face to face, human to human.
Think:
- Run clubs
- Crochet classes
- Cooking clubs
- Boardgames meetups
- Sauna and cold plunge sessions
Research shows that those gatherings have transformative impact. They make us feel less lonely and more seen. They make it easier to meet like-minded people with similar interests or common goals, which all results in the ease of a true connection and bonding. Such happenings help to create the feeling of belonging.
The Fourth Space is an analogue sanctuary – a place that prioritizes deep rest, presence, and embodied living. It’s a space that’s free of screens, pressures, and performance. Instead, it invites stillness, connection, and the simple joy of being.
At Escape Haven, we didn’t set out to create a “Fourth Space.” We simply followed what our guests were asking for – and over time, this beautiful, grounded, analogue haven naturally emerged.

What the Analogue Wellness & Fourth Space Looks Like at Escape Haven
At our retreat, this isn’t just a theory – it’s something we witness every single week. The Fourth Space comes to live through intention behind it. It’s the feeling of safety, softness and shared human interactions, inviting us to exhale and truly arrive.
Through the way we gather, the energy we hold, and the permission we give our guests to truly let go.
Here’s how it takes form, every day, at Escape Haven:
Daily Meditation, Yoga, and Breathwork
We start and end each day with soul-soothing practices – from energizing morning flows to grounding breathwork and calming meditation. These rituals create a rhythm that invites your body to exhale and your mind to slow down.
Connection Through Ceremony and Shared Experience
In a world that often isolates, we offer connection. From opening circles to heart-led workshops and beachside bonfires, women come as strangers and leave as soul sisters. One special thing about our retreats is the supportive community. You’re held, heard, and seen – not for what you do, but for who you are.
Deep Yin: Spa, Sound, and Surrender
True restoration is found in softness. Each day includes offerings like daily spa treatments, restorative yoga, or soothing night-time sound baths under the stars. These practices aren’t just indulgent, they’re a radical return to self-nourishment.
Wellness Workshops That Go Beyond the Surface
Our guests don’t just relax – they learn to restore. Through intimate workshops, we explore profound lifestyle tools like the power of breath to regulate the nervous system, rewire stress patterns, and cultivate resilience. These sessions are practical, empowering, and often become the cornerstone of lasting transformation.

Why We Need the Fourth Space More Than Ever
Our minds are busy, running at hundred miles an hour. Our nervous systems are overloaded and our connections, even though constant, often feel surface-level.
Most of us are digitally exhausted. We spend so many hours online, working, connecting, scrolling. Sometimes even more than we do living the real, offline life. That results in feeling disconnected, overstimulated and strangely lonely.
Our moments of “togetherness” happen a lot through a screen. We’re constantly interacting, yet rarely truly connecting.
What we are all craving is something simpler, deeper and more real – a return to spaces where life happens offline.
The moment we step into a space that’s designed to sooth rather than stimulate, that’s where the shift happens.
We need places that feel human.
Where conversations unfold unhurried.
Where meals are savoured.
Where our nervous system can rest, and our hearts can open.
A place where we can enjoy being present in the moment.
We’re in need of spaces where real life happens. Where we can truly feel and connect.
This is what the concept of the Fourth Space offers, and what we hold sacred here at Escape Haven.
At our retreat women step into the world free from notifications, expectations and noise.
In a world that’s always “on”, more and more women are craving for something deeply restorative. A disconnection with intention.

The Analogue Wellness is the future
This year, wellness won’t be just about eating your greens or using meditation apps. It will be all about spaces, where we show up physically, that invite us to have real human connections and be present. The fourth space is a trend that represents a return to something we tend to forget in the modern world.
We are all longing for true connections and time spent in the real outside world.
At Escape Haven, we’ve seen this desire evolve into a quiet but powerful movement. Our guests arrive with the weight of digital demands, decision fatigue, and burnout. They come carrying full schedules, buzzing phones and exhausted hearts and minds. But as soon as they settle in, into the slow mornings, ocean air and gentle rituals, a beautiful shift happens.
The phones are forgotten, and they start to fully immerse into real presence and real connections.
Chats bloom over morning juices and shared laughs at yoga. Strangers become soul sisters. All the little quiet moments, watching the sky turn orange, soaking in a flower bath, sharing deep stories in circle, it all begins to feel more nourishing and wholesome than any scrolling could.
Once the digital noise fades, something deeper comes alive: stillness, softness, sisterhood.
A return to what really matters.
