Why change doesn’t stick – and what actually shifts it

identity photo2

After I had bacterial meningitis, my capacity changed in ways I wasn’t expecting.

For a long time after, I felt constantly fatigued.

I had another baby during that time, and without really realising it, I had started to see myself differently. I moved differently. I made different choices, and over time, my world adjusted around that.

I see a version of this on retreat as well. Women arrive carrying a story about themselves – about what they can do, what they have time for, and what’s possible.

And then, with a bit of space and support, that starts to soften.

Most change focuses on behaviour.
But behaviour follows identity.

Your brain is constantly filtering what you notice, and it filters based on what feels familiar to you.

So if your identity doesn’t shift, your patterns won’t either.

Watch Day 2 here, where Janine talks you through why identity-based goals are the ones that stick.

“I am the kind of woman who…”

Reflection

It’s a small shift, but it changes what you notice. And from there, what you do.

On retreat, this often happens naturally. You start to see yourself differently.

And that begins to change everything that follows.
